Onam is just a couple of days away and i am just trying to make few of my favourites dishes from Kerala.

Mambazha Pulissery is a Mango curry, that is sweet and tangy. I first had this curry at my neighbours house. I can’t stop making this ever since. I am sure to finish up my frozen magoes making this ?

This curry is so light on the tummy and so yummy. It is such a simple dish to prepare as well.

Ingredients

Method

To start making Mambazha Pulissery , grind together coconut, jeera and onion into a smooth paste.

In a deep pan boil together cubes of raw and ripe mangoes along with turmeric , salt and green chillies in 2 cups of water.

Once the mango is cooked and soft, add the ground paste to it and cook for 5 minutes. Keep whisking it in between.

Cook till the raw smell of the onion is gone.

Beat the yogurt in a bowl and now add it to the curry. Give it a good mix and switch off the flame.

For tempering, heat coconut oil in a small pan. Add curry leaves and dry red chilly to it and let it crisp up.

Add it to the curry and serve it hot or room temperature with steamed rice and some fryums.
