WALnut Cocoa Butter – Homemade Nut Butter

Walnut Cocoa Butter is one of those nut butters I make as my son does not like eating walnuts. He doesn’t like the taste of walnuts and he is allergic to peanuts and hence walnut cocoa butter is a replacement to Peanut butter. Walnuts having so many health benefits is something that I want to include in his diet everyday. This way it makes it more easier for me to do so. To make it more appealing I have added cocoa powder. It is a simple nut butter that you can make at home and in smaller quantities to keep it as fresh as possible.   You can omit cocoa powder if you wish or add any other flavourings of your choice. Grainy, smooth or Chucky make it the way you like it 🙂

Walnut cocoa butter, is a grainy, chocolaty, homemade nut butter that is super healthy and super tasty and super easy to make.

Ingredients

2 handfuls – Walnuts, I have used California walnuts

2 Tbsp – Cocoa powder

4 Tbsp – Brown Sugar

Method

Pre heat the oven to 120ºC.

Spread the walnuts on a oven proof tray and toast the walnuts till they turn shiny. Smell nice and toasty. You don’t have to let them turn brown, they just need to turn crisp.

Let the walnuts cool down.

Transfer the cooled walnuts to a small blender jar. I have used Vitamix blending bowl. They are super handy in grinding small quantities.

Blend the walnuts to a coarse powder.

Add cocoa powder and sugar. You can increase or decrease the quantity of cocoa powder and sugar as per your liking.

Now blend everything together on the highest speed of your blender till it gets smooth or till it reaches the consistency of your liking.

You may have to give the mixture a mix in between while blending so that it is uniform.

The walnuts being rich in fat will release oil helping to blend well.

Transfer the butter into a jar and enjoy it with bread or as a dressing on fruits.

I served it with some Walnut Sourdough bread that I made and sprinkled some salt on top and it tasted so good.
