Passion Fruit Lemonade is this simple drink which is absolutely delicious, perfect for Summer. Passion fruit has a beautiful yellow pith with black seeds, but here in India the pith is colourless (lemonade colour). The taste of this berry is sweet with a hint of tang and the seeds are crunchy.
When in Germany last month I made Passion Fruit and Elder Flower Juice and it was absolutely delicious. I carried back some passion fruit to India. I love the red rind and the absolutely beautiful yellow colour of the pith. Below is the image I shot in Germany in our Airbnb and I loved it. It was a beautiful, huge, well lit house with a garden in the back. All the houses around had their gardens in the backyard and all the gardens were attached with very little or no compounds. It just gave it such a close community feel. I absolutely loved my time there. I used all my new props I bought from the flea market in Stuttgart and some pine cones me and my son collected during our walks.
We lived in Eslingen, a small village very close to Stuttgart and it was a very charming, calm community. Â The house we lived had a beautiful walk path next to it and we went there every day. We always take it slow during vacations and enjoy the place more and hence we cover fewer cities but stay in every place for a longer period. The walk path took us through the mustard fields and then to the cherry orchards. Oh! I felt so helpless not able to capture the beauty in my camera. I just gave up and sat there soaking that beauty.
Passion fruit was found in abundance in Germany. I love passion fruit and sadly it is not available so easily here. I hence carried some back to India. It is so hard to get back to work after such a long holiday. You just want to sit and day dream about the awesome time you had. But the beautiful passion fruit that I carried had to be shot, I couldn’t let my laziness spoil those berries 🙂  Also the watches sent by Daniel Wellington, which is timeless had to be captured.
The IngredientsÂ
Pulp of Passion Fruits
Juice of 1 Big Lemon
Honey or Sugar ( As per your Preference)
Method
Cut the Passion fruit into half and scoop out all the pulp into a bowl.
Add a cup of water to it and let it soak for 10 mins. I just leave it in the refrigerator overnight.
Rub the pulp against your fingers and extract all the juice possible and take the fiber out.
Add more water to the pulp again and squeeze out the remaining juice. Pass the juice through the sieve to remove any remaining fiber.
Add Lemon juice and more water to get the right quantity.
Add Sugar as per your taste.
You can even add a pinch of freshly ground black pepper to it.
Give it a good stir till the sugar is dissolved.
I add some seeds to this as I like that crunch, it is completely optional.
Serve chilled.
You can add Mint leaves or Basil leaves to this or replace Lemon juice with Elder Flower Syrup, Lavender Syrup .Hope you guys get to try it. Do write back to me with your feedback. Go ahead and print a copy of recipe for yourself and do follow me on Instagram for regular updates.
