Chakota Masala is a spicy, sweet salad or snack made out of Grape fruit. It is usually had as a snack between meals and it is absolutely tasty.
In kannada we call this fruit Chakota. We have this fruit in abundance in our estate and hence we have never valued Chakota much. We as kids made a push toy using this fruit and ran around with it. People swear by this fruit for weight loss… I dont know about that, but it sure does taste great.
There are two varities white and red. White is more sour and bitter compared to the red. Red is much more sweeter. You can use any variety for this masala.
Also do try other local authentic tea time snacks like Nucchina Unde and Kadubu.
