AKKi Rotti or Masala Rotti ( riceflour roti)

also known as Banale Rotti (kadai rotti) as originally it was made in a kadai and not tawa. or Masala rotti in some parts of karnataka as there is a plain akki rotti too Have it hot, have it with chutney, chutney powder, curds or just ghee.
Ingredients
  • 1cup - Rice flour
  • 1 no. - Onion finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp - Jeera
  • 1 tbsp - Grated coconut (optional)
  • 1 pinch - Sugar
  • 2 nos - Green chillies finely chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 cup - warm water
  • The optional ingredients you can use are
  • ¼ cup - Grated carrot
  • Or
  • ¼ cup - Dil leaves(chopped)
Instructions
  1. In a bowl mix all the ingredients except the warm water. Gradually start adding water n mix it into a soft dough. Not too soft but softer than roti dough. It should be soft at the same time you should be able to make a ball like in the pic below (2nd pic).
  2. On a cool tawa, put ½ tbsp at the centre (pic 1). On top of it place the dough ball, size of a cricket ball or tennis ball (pic 2) . Start pressing the dough and turning the tawa at the same time . From the centre keep pushing the dough outwards.
  3. Press the dough till it covers the tawa. Should be ½cm thick. Make three holes in the centre (pic8) and drizzle some oil in it.
  4. Cover it and cook it till it turns gold and crisp. Cooking it on one side is good enough. Serve it hot
